Europe
France - Chamonix is a favourite for its height, diversity and nightlife. Probably the greatest resort on Earth and under the watchful shadow of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain.
Austria - Kitzbuhel a playground for Europeans and this legendary city of sports in Tyrol is home to one of the great downhill ski races, the Hahnenkamm. Other great resorts include Westendorf, Soll, Scheffau all of which form part of the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser.

Switzerland - Davos for rubbing shoulders with the most powerful people in the world or the most powerful and extreme downhill skiing in the Swiss Alps. I'll take the extreme downhill skiing anyday!!
USA
Colorado is home to some great skiing and whether its the glitz of Aspen or the rawness of Winter Park, the scenery and altitude will take your breath away. Denver City is a short drive away and you can fly into this wilderness pretty easily from anywhere in the world.
Oregon is home to Mt. Hood, a beautiful pinnacle mountain and Oregon's tallest mountain at 11,235 feet. Its actually a dormant volcano with over a dozen glaciers. Nearby Hood River and its many wineries really gives this place a special mix.
California offers so much. In one day you can swim in the Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica after breakfast and the next you can be eating pizza at the top of Big Bear Mountain. Real and raw this resort is a great two day last minute decision....well if you live in the area of course!
Canada
Banff is such a beautiful mountain resort with Mt. Norquay and Lake Louise mixing it up. There's also some very stylish places to stay in this area and definitely on the bucket list for all.

Norway
What do I know about Norway? Not much I have to admit but then again I probably know a little bit more about this land then the average person because of my fondness of geography and natural history. However in terms of knowing this land and its people, that's where I fail the test!

A very good friend of mine, a towering New Yorker with Irish and Norwegian heritage always claimed that his norse blood was the reason he stood at 6 foot 4, a barrel of a chest and hands that would crush a basketball.....although he preferred to bounce the basketball as he was in his youth a school and college basketball hero and trained and dedicated much of his life to the game. It was this gentleman that I learned a lot about Norway, its people and its beauty!

This brings me to my discovery of a gem of a ski resort and tourism facility that looks mythical and has a wonderful story of grassroots growth, innocent development and a wondrous legacy that has now been born in Voss, Norway. The Myrkdalen Hotel and Resort has to be seen to be believed.
